A young entrepreneur in Mozambique asked for assistance in obtaining computer training. A small loan was created and a computer purchased for his use. Upon completion of the coarse he was offered a job as a teacher. In order to accept the job he needed to move from his present location but was unable to obtain housing. An amount of $2,500.00 was advanced with a repayment schedule of $500.00 per year. This person then committed to a part time attendance at university with the understanding that for every year he passed the required courses the $500.00 scheduled repayment would be forgiven.
Four young ladies, who had successfully completed a jewelry making course in the Dominican Republic, requested help in starting a jewelry making business. They had a business plan and a list of shops which were prepared to market their product. A five hundred dollar loan was advanced with a repayment schedule established for the loan.
A young man in the Dominican Republic requested a $500.00 loan to start a livestock enterprise. He is to purchase a number of piglets, find families who will raise them to market size and then sell them. The loan is to be repaid from the proceeds. He is to retain a breeding pair to become the source of future piglets.
